Welcome

The Galway Medical Technologies Centre (GMedTech) was established in 2006 and is based in Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT).

The GMedTech Applied Research Centre is funded by Enterprise Ireland under the Applied Research Enhancement (ARE) Programme.

The GMedTech Centre's research is primarily focused on development of in vitro simulation test systems that closely mimic human anatomical systems to serve the needs of medical device companies and medical practitioner communities. In addition, the Galway Medical Technologies Centre also offers a broad range of engineering design / development support services to the developers of medical devices.

The Galway Medical Technologies Centre has 6 academic members and 8 full time researchers. The GMedTech Centre is actively focused on the cardiovascular research area and has four major research topics: abdominal aortic aneurysms, cranial aneurysms, coronary artery disease and the venous system.

The other areas of research include the human musculoskeletal system, dentistry, urology and reconstructive surgery.
